Title: More Observable Work

With almost everyone working remotely, it’s incredibly important to give people in different time zones or locations a simple way to see and use what Jim McGee calls 'Ideas & Notes' and 'Working Papers' as well as sharing just deliverables. The ability to crack open and share the content of live conversations or meetings is a big step forward - now available to almost everyone at a very affordable price - starting at free. Otter.ai is available with a personal or team subscription, and included with a Zoom enterprise subscription.

I like Otter.ai as personal audio notebook with live transcripts, as well as a tool to create surprisingly good transcripts from audio or video recordings. It does a good job recognizing and automatically tagging different speakers in a conversation, and makes it easy to share live transcripts with people or groups you select. The iPhone, IPad, Web, and Android Apps are agile and polished. All live transcripts are seamlessly Cloud synced.

See my Transcribing Jim McGee's TUG 2010 Keynote - More Observable Work blog post for how this capability fills a gap for making audio and video recordings more useful for collaborative work and a video of Jim's keynote. See below for a live Otter.ai transcript. Click here for highlights I collected from the talk.

I think its time to pick up the Observable Work banner again!
