Title: User Preferences | Files Panel - Edit in Office and File Options

Each of these user preference settings pertaining to WebDAV file management has a server default value that can be set by a server administrator on the Server Setup | Defaults | User Preferences | Files panel. If they have permissions to modify their preferences, users can go to My Account to change these settings.

Show Location for Attachments in File Details

It is sometimes useful to know the path to an attached file, and to have a link to its containing Document Folder view. This option makes that possible.

Unless your server administrator has changed it, the server default value for this option is not to show the location link in the File Details view for an attachment.

See also Show Location for Attachments in File Details.

Show Edit Button for Microsoft Office Documents

If you read the section entitled Editing Microsoft Office Files from Windows with IE, you have seen that the button can sometimes appear for a given WebDAV controlled file to allow users of Internet Explorer on Windows to directly edit the file in the appropriate Microsoft Office application. For example, a File Details view for a Microsoft Word document may include an Edit button:

This button will not appear at all unless this preference is set to yes:

Unless your server administrator has changed it, the server default value for this option is not to show the Easy Edit button.

Show Lock Option for Files

If you are not interested in the manual lock feature, it is not necessary to make it available. But if you wish to use the manual lock feature (see Locking Files), you must make sure this option is set to "yes" under Personal Setup | Preferences | Files:

Unless your server administrator has changed it, the server default value for this option is not to show the lock button in the File Details view.

Show Open Folder Icons for Attachments

In attachment lists, like this:

the Web Folder link icon does not appear unless this setting is "yes":

Unless your server administrator has changed it, the server default value for this option is not to show the Web Folder link for each attachment in an attachment list (occurs usually below an entry in a full view). This is what the attachment display looks like in Internet Explorer on Windows without the Web Folder link:
