Title: Publishing from Internet Explorer

The TIP V2 allows you to right-click-publish text and graphics from the body of a web page to Traction with a reference to original source. You can also save a full copy of the original web page.

Selecting Content

The first step is to select the content that you want to capture from the web page. Select the desired text and graphics in the body of the web page.

Note: If you don't select anything, TIP V2 guesses what you may want to publish based on the position of the cursor! So, be sure to select some content, but only the content that you want to capture.

Here is an example of selecting an image and some text.

Next, right-click over the page and select the Publish to Traction or Publish to Traction option from the menu. Selecting the Publish to Traction with Original does the same thing as Publish Selection to Traction, but also attaches a web page archive (.mht file) of the page to the Traction article.

When you release the button, Traction will process the page and open the TIP V2 form with your selection in it. Note that the TIP inserted a link at the end of the text, pointing to the source page and domain from which you clipped the information:

Editing Content and Adding Labels

The title of the Traction entry defaults to the title of the web page. You can edit the title and content as you desire and add labels. I added the headline and market labels (see above). I also backed the first paragraph up one space, so it would appear in Traction in the same paragraph as the image (this has the result of presenting the image with the text when the article is presented as a headline on the front page.)

Best Practice Tip: Always be sure you have a good first paragraph, this will appear in the ExecutiveSummary email digest and in other views such as the multi-entry view and, in some cases, the front page and project newspage. If you captured an image, and want to display it on the newspage or front page, be sure it appears in the first paragraph with the text lead.

When you are happy with the content of the article you are going to publish, click Submit. The result appears in single entry view. See below:

And, because headline was chosen, it will show on the Front Page too. See below:
